Lindsay J. Giesen, MPH, is a Principal Research Associate with 15 years of experience in program evaluation and policy research. She primarily focuses on child nutrition and food security issues, though she also contributes to studies in workforce development and child welfare. Giesen has years of project management experience for USDA studies. She was the project director of the recently completed Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) Integrity Study and is currently deputy project director of the Fourth Access, Participation, Eligibility, and Certification (APEC IV) study.
Across projects, Giesen typically leads qualitative data collection and analysis tasks as well as survey operations, and frequently trains other staff to perform those tasks. She has conducted hundreds of interviews and focus groups with study respondents across the country, both in person and remotely. During her career, she has authored and coauthored numerous technical reports, publications, and presentations.
Beyond her project work, Giesen is passionate about fostering professional development opportunities for staff. Within the Social Policy and Economic Research practice area, she co-leads a mentoring group for junior staff and a biannual training series open to all staff.
